May 20th 2018, Sage: Rutter ‘Magnificat’ + ‘Mary Rose’

L’Estrange’s fusion of Tudor music and sea shanties and Rutter’s joyful praise ‘Magnificat’ were the works chosen for ‘Alnwick Sings at the Sage’.  The Combined Choirs of Alnwick District, Alnwick Children’s Choir and Hanna-Liisa Kirchin, Mezzo-Soprano really enjoyed themselves.

The different directors of music worked with their various choirs over many weeks and the instrumentalists and our wonderful soloist performed brilliantly on the day. I would also like to pass on special thanks to Mick Lock  for his tireless efforts in planning and organising this amazing trip.

I have very happy memories of singing at The Sage, Gateshead. It was my first time performing there and what a wonderful experience! I was thrilled that so many young people from the Alnwick Children’s Choir could enjoy the atmosphere and acoustics of this unique, beautiful venue.

Here is what our soloist shared online:

Hanna-Liisa Kirchin: “So excited to travel up to @Sage_Gateshead tomorrow to be reunited with all of these wonderful people! Very lucky to have such a fabulous opportunity!”

A fabulous experience for everyone in the different choirs and the audience enjoyed it, too!
